Wireless Troubleshooting

What Is It?

ITS diagnoses and resolves issues on the Lincoln University wireless network for academic, administrative, residence hall, and public spaces. We check device configuration, authentication, and security posture, verify access point health, and adjust settings (where appropriate) on the wireless infrastructure. We’ll also coordinate with Facilities or Housing if a space related factor is contributing.

Wireless use must comply with LU Acceptable Use and related University policies (e.g., no personal routers/hotspots that interfere with campus Wi‑Fi).

Who Is Eligible to Use It?

  • Students, Faculty, and Staff using LU Wi‑Fi on campus
  • Student employees/Graduate assistants when needed for job duties (with supervisor approval)
  • Departments reporting area wide wireless issues in offices, classrooms, or labs
Where Can I Get It?

Click the "Request Service" button on this page.

How Do I Use It?

  • Who & where: Your role (student/faculty/staff), building/room/area, and the date/time window of the issue
  • Devices affected: Make/model + OS (e.g., iPhone iOS 18.x; Windows 11; macOS 15.x); single device or multiple?
  • What you see: Exact error text/screenshot (authentication failed, unable to join, limited connectivity, certificate prompt)
  • What changed: New device, password change, OS update, or moving to a new spac
  • Scope: Only you, your class/office, or multiple people nearby
Notes & Policies

Do not connect personal wireless routers, repeaters, or IoT hubs to the LU network — they violate policy and degrade service for others.

  • All wireless use must follow LU Acceptable Use (e.g., no “foreign devices” like personal APs/routers/repeaters).
  • Residence hall Wi‑Fi issues may require coordination with Housing; we’ll route and track within your ticket.
  • If the problem is tied to a facility (construction, shielding, reconfiguration), ITS will coordinate mitigation.
