VPN Access

What Is It?

Virtual Private Network (VPN) service that encrypts your connection to the LU network so you can safely reach on‑campus systems (e.g., shared drives, Remote Desktop, internal applications) while working remotely. Lincoln University ITS currently provides VPN connectivity via the SonicWall Global VPN Client/Mobile Connect.

Who Is Eligible to Use It?

  • Faculty and Staff: Eligible by default with supervisor approval.
  • Affiliates (contractors, student employees): Eligible by exception with department head approval and ITS review.
  • Students (non‑employees): Not typically granted VPN access unless explicitly required for job duties or approved projects.

Note: VPN access requires a compliant, LU managed or ITS approved device and multi‑factor authentication (MFA).
