ID Card Replacement or Access Modification

What Is It?

 A one stop service to (1) deactivate and reissue an LU ID card and (2) modify building/door permissions tied to your identity in the access control system (Genetec). When appropriate, ITS coordinates with Lincoln University Police Department (LUPD), which manages card status in Genetec, and with Housing/Facilities for location specific access.

  • LUPD can immediately mark a badge “lost” in Genetec to protect campus and the cardholder.
  • Replacement IDs are issued by the ITS Card/Helpdesk; current internal guidance notes a $25 replacement fee (receipt required) and processing at Schweich Hall.
  • Carry and present University ID upon request of LUPD/authorized staff per policy.
Who Is Eligible to Use It?

  • Students, Faculty, and Staff (for their own cards)
  • Supervisors/Department heads (to request access changes for their personnel or spaces)
  • Contractors/Affiliates/Student employees (via a sponsoring LU department; access will have an end date)

How Do I Use It?

A) Lost or stolen card (urgent)

  1. Report immediately:
    • Call 573‑681‑5888 or visit the Helpdesk (rear of Schweich Hall). ITS will coordinate with LUPD to deactivate the card in Genetec so it cannot be used.
  2. Request a replacement (TeamDynamix ticket or in person):
    • Bring a government issued photo ID and your payment receipt (if applicable). Current internal guidance indicates $25 per replacement.

B) Damaged, worn, or name change replacement

  • For name changes, ensure HR/Registrar records are updated first; bring documentation and a photo ID when you pick up the new card.
  • Turn in the old card when issued a new one (if available).

C) Door access add/remove/modify

Use the Access Modification option in the TeamDynamix form and include:

  • Cardholder info: Name, role (student/staff/faculty/affiliate), department, LU email
  • Location(s): Building, room/door numbers, and time window/schedule (e.g., M–F 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m.)
  • Reason for access: Course, job duty, research, event, or relocation
  • Sponsor approvals: Supervisor/department head name and email
  • Start/end dates (required for student workers, contractors, or temporary access)
    ITS/LUPD will validate eligibility, apply the change in Genetec, and confirm once active. For Residence Halls or specialty labs, requests are routed to Housing/Facilities as needed.
Notes & Policies

  • Keep your LU ID with you and present it upon request by LUPD/authorized officials.
  • For safety, do not email sensitive personal data (e.g., full SSN). Provide identity verification in person at issuance.
  • Replacement fee and desk location/hours are subject to change; current practice references $25 and Helpdesk processing at Schweich Hall.
